Sunday, June 29, 2008 - Cleveland

Day 2 -

After a lovely breakfast with mom and her friend Jim, we all headed out to the Jake. I mean the Prog. We parked down a steep hill near the flats and under the Lorain-Carnegie Bridge. The hill was so steep (how steep was it?) that the lot had hired some high-school kids to drive the patrons up the hill in a golfcart.

Into the ballpark!

We enjoyed the first few innings from our perfect seats in the first row of the balcony behind first base. Then the rains came. We had the foresight to bring umbrellas and the gall to use them when the tarp was not on the field. We got yelled at.

When play resumed, Jim took us out to the left field bleachers to meet his friend John Adams. John Adams has been beating a drum during Indians games since August 24, 1973. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Adams_(drummer) He buys 2 seats: one for him and one for the drum. He is a fixture and a Cleveland icon.

Also, it was Slider's 18th birthday! He celebrated the day with some of his friends.

Unfortunately the day did not go so well for my Tribe. The final score was Reds 9, Cleveland 5.

So much for the battle of I-71 and the Ohio Cup.

No big doings in the evening: a drive (we got lost...it was the West Side after all), laundry and dinner. Tomorrow...off to see the Tribe on Chicago's South Side!
